" Break Free " is a song by American singer Ariana Grande featuring Russian-German music producer Zedd. Written by Savan Kotecha and its producers Zedd and Max Martin, it aired on July 2, 2014 at Total Ariana Live , MTV awakening from Total Request Live . Music video

The music video was filmed from 10 to 12 June 2014. The film was directed by Chris Marrs Piliero. Having an intergalactic theme, Grande stated that the video was inspired by the 1968 science fiction film Barbarella, the Star Wars series and space in general.
