The current generation of Ford Ranger (codenamed T6 ) is a range of medium pickup trucks manufactured and sold by Ford Motor Company worldwide. Designed and designed by Ford Australia, the Ranger T6 replaces Ford's two previous light truck platforms: North American-designed Ranger Ford Ranger is sold in America and Ford Ranger comes from Mazda BT-50 sold in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Region-Pacific.

First introduced at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney in October 2010, the Ranger T6 has been manufactured since the summer of 2011. First produced by AutoAlliance facility in Rayong, Thailand, Ranger is also currently manufactured in Argentina, Nigeria and the South. Africa.

In 2018, an example of a North American specification started production in the United States at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.

Mazda markets a badge-engineered version of the Ranger as the second generation of Mazda BT-50 pickup trucks. The Ranger T6 is also the basis for several sport utility vehicles, including Ford Everest, Ford Bronco 2020, and T4 T4 Troller off-road vehicles.

Ikhtisar

Following its 2006-2011 predecessor in the mid-size segment, the Ford Ranger T6 is manufactured in three body styles worldwide. Two doors (single tax) is standard, with cargo capacity of 43 cubic feet (1.21 m 3 ). The cargo capacity of 64 cubic feet (1.82 m 3 ) is offered with a four-door extended cabin (SuperCab in North America), or a four-door cabin crew (SuperCrew in North America). Along with the standard pickup truck, the Ranger is also offered as a chassis cabin, which effectively takes the chassis of the Ford Falcon cabin.

All four-door Rangers have the same ground clearance, be it a two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive; a two-door version is offered with the option "Hi-Rider" in a two-wheel drive configuration, giving them the same ground clearance as the 4x4 version. The Hi-Rider version (including Wildtrak) has a water-fording clearance of 31 deep (800 mm), while the high-standard Rangers have 24 deep clearance (600 mm). The Ranger T6 has a rated capacity of 7,700 pounds (3,500 kg); version with Duratorq 2.2L diesel has a payload capacity of 2,939 pounds (1,333 kg).

By 2015, the Ford Ranger T6 undergoes mid-cycle redesign, with the front fascia adopting the Kinetic Ford Design element. Instead of a grille of three rectangular bars, Ranger adopts a slightly oval grid with a single center bar, allowing further differentiation between the Ranger and Ford Everest SUVs that are mechanically alike.

Crop level

The Ranger T6 follows the traditional Ford truck trim level nomenclature, which offers XL, XLT and XLS trim levels. Based on its four-wheel drive version, Ford offers Ford Ranger FX4 and Ford Ranger Wildtrak, with a special exterior model.

Wildtrak

In certain global markets, including Australia, Ford released the Ford Ranger Wildtrak as a special edition of the Ranger. Based on the cabin crew of four-wheeled vehicles, Wildtrak is equipped with Duratorq 3.2L diesel engine with manual or automatic transmission. To distinguish models visually, Wildtrak comes with a special grille model (painted dark gray), special wheels 18-inch model, and other exterior and interior trim. Marketed in exclusive colors for trim (Pride Orange), Wildtrak is also offered in several other colors.

Inaugurated by Ford in Thailand in 2018, the Ford Ranger Raptor will be the 2019 upcoming production model. Similar to the larger F-150 Raptor, the Ranger Raptor is a high-performance truck that is optimized for off-road driving. Marking the debut of a 210Hp 2.0L EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel engine in the Ranger paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the Raptor is equipped with a permanent four-wheel drive and enhanced chassis and suspension. As with the F-150 and SVT Raptor, the grille from Ranger Raptor replaced the Ford Blue Oval with "FORD" in block letters.

Along with standard anti-lock brakes, Ranger is equipped with emergency brake aid. The twin piston 11.9 inches (302 mm) by 1.3Ã, in (32 mm) the front brake rotor joins the 10.6 in (270 mm) by the rear drum 2.2 inches (55 mm) (on the two wheel Rangers) and 11.6 in (295 mm) by a 2.2 inch (55 mm) rear drum (on Hi-Rider and all 4x4 Rangers).

Ford Everest

Ford revealed the next generation Ford Everest concept in August 2013. The Everest SUV features Kinetic Design similar to EcoSport, Kuga/Escape, and Edge. The vehicle is offered in rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, mated to 2.2-L or Duratorq 3.2-L, depending on the market.

Currently, there are no plans to offer Everest outside the Asia-Pacific and South Africa markets; in North America, Everest overlaps with Explorer, Expedition, and Flex in size and cost as well as seating capacity, cargo, and crane. However, in the Philippines, Everest is sold alongside Explorer and Max Expedition. In China, Ford Everest is produced by Jiangling Motors, at Nanchang Jiangling plant. In India, Ford markets Everest as Ford Endeavor.

Ford Bronco (2020)

Along with the revival of Ford Ranger in North America, Ford reintroduced the Ford Bronco SUV. Scheduled for the 2020 model year, the Bronco will be a medium-size SUV based on the Ranger and placed under the Standard Expedition and above Explorer in the Ford model line. While mechanically derived from the T6 Ranger, Chief Technical Officer of Ford Raj Nair stated that 2020 Bronco will be its own unique vehicle and will not be an adaptation of the existing Ford Everest SUV.

JMC Yuhu

Jiangling Motors (Ford automotive joint-venture affiliate in China) has been collecting JMC Yuhu since August 2015. Pickup intermediate based on exclusive platform, Yuhu exterior is loosely depressed on both Ranger and Mazda BT-50.

Mazda BT-50

Developed alongside the Ford Ranger T6, the Mazda BT-50 is mechanically identical to the Ranger, using 2.2L and 3.2L Duratorq diesels (as a rebranded MZ-CD engine). In the reverse of Mazda's truck tradition in the global market, the second generation BT-50 was developed by Ford. Because the BT-50 is laid out using the work of a separate design team, the two vehicles barely have a common body panel, with the exception of roof stamping and window glass.

While the Ford Ranger is being returned to the North American market segment for the 2019 market, there is no current plan to market Mazda BT 50 in North America as a rebadged version of the Ford Ranger.

Troller T4

Troller T4 is an off-road vehicle manufactured in Brazil by a subsidiary of Ford Troller VeÃÆ'culos Especiais S/A that has been produced since 2004. Using the same body and chassis configurations as Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover, in 2014, Troller modernizes T4, all chassis with shortened Ranger frame versions to fit the T4 body.

North American sales and production

After its launch, the Ford Ranger T6 is marketed worldwide, with the exception of the United States and Canada. In early 2010, Ford shifted its design attention in North America toward improving the fuel economy of a full-size pickup truck, with switchover to direct injection and turbocharged engines and intensive aluminum body design for F-Series pickup trucks.

In contrast, while Ranger is not marketed in North America at all, Ford F-150/Super Duty trucks designed by America are not widely sold in global markets (with the exception being Mexico, Chile, Caribbean, Cayman Islands, Suriname, Ecuador, Peru, and GCC countries in the Middle East). Along with the lack of demand for larger vehicles, taxes on engine displacement, and fuel economy concerns, the F-Series trucks also lack the right-hand drive capability of the factory.

Initial exceptions

Following the discontinuation of retail sales of Ford Ranger's compact pickup trucks produced in North America after the 2011 model year, several factors will make Ford decide not to launch North American Ranger T6 sales globally as a replacement. While developed for worldwide trucking markets, none of the Ranger engines are common to Ford vehicles in the American market, which means a challenge to adapt to emissions standards of the United States and Canada (one later meets, as Ford certifies 3.2L Duratorq diesel, due to sales Ford Transit starts for model year 2015). In addition, because the US and Canada do not meet ECE, global market vehicles intended for sale in North America typically have to undergo modifications to meet safety and emissions standards for the United States and Canada.

Although the adaptation of safety and emissions to Ranger is likely to be a challenge Ford may have planned in launching potential products, the biggest hurdle associated with its production in Thailand, Argentina and South Africa. If imported to North America, Ranger T6 will incur 25% "chicken tax", which is charged on light trucks imported. Along with the huge tariffs, the biggest factor that hinders the initial sales of the Ranger T6 is its own design. Closer to the Ford Explorer Sport Trac than the discontinued Ranger, the Ranger T6 has entered the mid-size truck segment. In a similar decision, at the same time, Ford ended the development of a separate intermediate pickup based on the F-Series (considered a potential F-100 revival).

Market return

By the end of 2015, North American Ranger T6 production was revealed, when Ford Motor Company and UAW union signed an agreement for the Michigan Assembly Factory in Wayne, Michigan. As part of a $ 700 million retooling plant, Ford will replace Ford Focus and Ford C-Max in Michigan Assembly with Ford Ranger, scheduled for the 2018 calendar, and Ford Bronco variant, scheduled for the 2020 model.

At the 2017 North American International Automotive Exhibition, Ford confirmed the return of Ranger and Bronco to North America, with the 2019 Ford Ranger T6 production launch in North American specifications at the 2018 North American International Auto Show, to be sold by the end of 2018.

To develop North American specifications, Ford made several changes to the Ranger T6. To better meet US crash standards and to increase its cargo, the redesigned rail frame, becomes a full box. The front fascia is slightly redesigned, with Ford modifying the design into a front bumper mounted in front and separated from the bodywork. The talent changed; along with the addition of a spoiler, tailgate gained a locking capability (from the F-Series).

For the 2019 launch, the only powertrain for Rangers North American specs will be the inbound 2.3L EcoBoost-4 paired to an automatic 10-speed; while the current output is not announced, the engine makes between 280hp (in Ford Explorer) and 310hp (on Ford Mustang EcoBoost). Both two-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations are available. Although the Ranger is available as two doors, only four doors SuperCab and SuperCrew configuration will be sold in North America; all Rangers will be sold as "HiRiders".

Following the F-150, the Ranger will be sold on XL trim basis, XLT trim, with Lariat as the top trim. Each trim level will also have its own sub-model option package, with XL having STX, with XLT and Lariat having FX4 (only 4x4) and Chrome packages. Currently, neither Wildtrak nor Raptor is announced in the United States or Canada.
