- Ladder. Stair ropes and ladders remain a common accessory for playsets.
- Sandbox. Sandboxes often accompany outdoor playsets.

Security
In July 2001, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that annually, more than 200,000 children were taken to the hospital emergency room due to playground-related injuries. Most of the injuries occur when a child falls to the surface of the playground.
Play surface
Options for coating the soil around the playset include sand, gravel nuts, wood chips, rubber scar, and asphalt. Border playing pages are often made of concrete or wood. The surface depth in the play area should be based on CPSC recommendations for the type of surface material and possible maximum falling height, for example:
Playhouses
Another type of playground equipment outside is the playhouse. This is a small-scale replica of a full-sized house - like a tree house but on the ground. They can promote the imagination and creativity of the child. A playhouse may be as simple as a piece on a cardboard box, or as complex as a permanent outer structure connected with electricity and running water. There are a number of companies that specialize in creating intricate and distinctive playhouses that can be used for commercial and personal purposes.
