Commercial playground was developed to provide fun for children ages 14 and under in a safe environment. There is a clear distinction between the Commercial Playground and the Residential. The Children's Playground, although safe, is usually made of wood and has no safety guidelines prepared by different associations. The Security of Commercial Playground is governed by several different organizations. They include: Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), National Program for Safety Playground, A.S.T.M. International, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, and National Child Care Association. One can usually find commercial playgrounds in public parks, fast food restaurants, indoor playgrounds, schools, and churches. The price for a commercial playground depends on the size and type of its components. Prices range from the usual $ 10,000 to $ 150,000.

Playground Komersial

Commercial playground is an indoor or outdoor structure which means design to handle large volume of traffic. The playground is designed safely and fun to ensure the right time for children and peace of mind for parents and guardians. In the last few decades, the industry of commercial playground has grown rapidly. Commercial playgrounds begin as slides and climbing structures are placed next to each other and then eventually combined. Since those early days, commercial playgrounds have grown into a multi-million dollar industry with multi-level playgrounds, climbing structures, slides, play panels and stations.

Commercial Playground Safety

The Safety of Commercial Playground is not underestimated by the industry of commercial playground or customers. To ensure commercial playmakers make the safest playgrounds, they are governed by industry and multi-industry organizations and associations. As stated in the opening paragraph, they include: Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), National Program for Play Safety, IPEMA and A.S.T.M. International.

  • The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) helps organize the security of the playground by letting people know about unsafe playground practices and unsafe playground equipment. The CPSC also distributes small books that tell consumers how their children play safely. The CPSC also created a guidebook for the safety of public playgrounds in 1981 that has shaped the industry of commercial playground and their security efforts.
  • The NPPS (National Program for Security Playground) organizes the security of a playground by helping the community create a safe and growing play environment suitable for children. NPPS works closely with the CPSC to create guidelines that are incorporated into public security playbooks.
  • ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world. They create technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. They also created standards for the manufacture of play equipment. The standards to be met by manufacturers of play equipment are ASTM F1487-07, excluding sections 7.1.1, 10 and 12.6.1, ASTM F1292-04, and ASTM F2075-04.
  • IPEMA (International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association) is a third party certification service. IPEMA ensures that playground manufacturers follow the ASTM Standards and Consumer Performance Standard Specifications for Playground Equipment for Public Use.
