Expo Hall is an indoor arena located at Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida. It is used primarily as an exhibition space during the Florida State Fair, but also hosts concerts and sporting events.
The Tampa Bay Rowdies of the dead North American Football League used Expo Hall for 8 of their 16 home games during the 1983-84 indoor season. By that time the arena capacity was 9,200. It will also prove to be the league's final indoor campaign before suspending operations after the off-season in 1984.
The more famous arena was used by Tampa Bay Lightning, the National Hockey League during the team's inaugural season 1992-1993. The seating capacity of 10,425 proved too small for Lightning, and the team moved to ThunderDome in St. Louis. Petersburg for two seasons, until their permanent home, Amalie Arena, was built in downtown Tampa.
In 1994 the expansion of Tampa Bay Tritons of Roller Hockey International was played for a season at Expo Hall before it was folded. Mark Messier is the owner of the club.
