Eyvind Earle (April 26, 1916 - July 20, 2000) is an American artist, writer and illustrator, best known for his contributions to the background illustrations and Disney animated movie styles of the 1950s. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Rahr Museum of Western Art, the Phoenix Art Museum and the Arizona State University Museum of Art have purchased Earle's works for their permanent collection. His works have also been featured in many exhibitions of one person around the world.

Kehidupan awal

Earle was born in New York, but his family moved to Hollywood in 1918. He started painting when he was 10 years old, and had his first solo show in France when he was 14 years old.

Careers

Earle New York's first exhibition was at the Charles Morgan Gallery in 1937. At the 1939 exhibition, the Metropolitan Art Museum purchased one of his works for his permanent collection. His current job is a realistic painting. In the 1940s he painted more than 800 Christmas card designs for the American Artist Group.

In 1951 he joined Disney as a background painter assistant and received credits for experimental background paintings in the short Goofy, For Who Bulls Toil . In 1953 he created the look of Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom, short animated films that won the Academy Award and the Cannes Film Festival Award. He also worked on Peter Pan , Working for Peanuts , Babi was Pigs , Paul Bunyan , and Lady and the Tramp . She is responsible for styling, background and color for the highly-honored Sleeping Beauty .

In 1961, Earle completed an 18-minute animation segment from the Nativity story for Tennessee Ernie Ford that hosted NBC's The Story Of Christmas special television program.

Earle returned to full-time painting in 1966, producing watercolors, oils, sculptures, images, scratches, and limited-edition serigraphs. Much of this work was not exhibited in his lifetime.

He died of esophageal cancer in 2000.

Legacy

The Banner Saga, a video game by the Stoic developer, is very interesting from the Earle style and contains characters named after him. He is credited for 'Artistic Inspiration'.

Awards

In 1998, Earle was honored at the 26th Annie Awards with Winsor McCay Award for lifetime achievement in animated art.

In 2015, in a presentation at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Earle was sworn in as the Disney Legend. Her daughter, Kristin Thompson, was accepted on behalf of her father.
