Histori
Sejarah awal, rilis pertama (2004-2006)
John Vesely formed Secondhand Serenade in his hometown of Menlo Park in California, USA, in 2004. Vesely grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in a cute family and as the son of a jazz musician. She started to get into music at the age of 12. He spent 8 years playing bass in local bands, which featured in a number of scenes ranging from ska and hardcore to rock and pop. One of the bands he played, Sounds Like Life, included fellow Bay Area artist Ronnie Day. After years of playing bass, he chose an acoustic guitar. Vesely follows the tradition of John Ondrasik's Five for Fighting. Vesely is also the son of a Czech immigrant.
While some artists may be afraid of roughly playing only with acoustic guitar, John welcomes the honesty that comes up. He claims "in some ways a band is stronger, but in other ways there are things you can do with one voice and one acoustic guitar that you can not do with the musicians behind your troop."
In 2005, Vesely released her debut album titled Awake . It was recorded as a demo, having ordered a few days at the San Francisco studio in early 2005, "only using his much-tracked acoustic guitar and vocals." The album was promoted through the MySpace Secondhand Serenade page and by playing local shows. The CD was originally sold via mail order with Payes account by Vesely, he finally signed up with TuneCore distributor, making Secondhand Serenade songs available on music portals including iTunes. The album experienced tremendous online support, and by the end of 2006 Secondhand Serenade had received millions of games on MySpace and had become an Independent Artist No. 1 social network for months. Financially, he is said to carry up to $ 20,000 per month of downloads and merchandise sales from his home. He sold over 15,000 copies of his own album, and on this sales and support power, naturally, the labels came knocking. Secondhand Serenade was signed by longtime label executive Daniel Glass, on his new label Glassnote Records, which is distributed through Warner's Independent Label Group. In 2006, Rolling Stone announced Secondhand Serenade as Number 3 in a magazine reader poll for Best MySpace Artist.
