Black Rose is the second album by American singer-songwriter J.D. Souther, was released in 1976 (see 1976 in music).
In the Rolling Stone album review, Stephen Holden wrote, "John David Souther's second solo album benefited from the beautiful, star-studded Peter Asher production, more sophisticated than his first album or two Souther-Hillman-Furay albums, Black Rose underscored Souther's melodic writings, his strongest point, with some really innovative arrangements by David Campbell, a classically trained musician who scored "Prisoner in Disguise" for Linda Ronstadt. "Silver Blue," most Campbell have scored as a duet for sound and plucking double bass and violas, is a very striking production, while the "Faithless Love" setting becomes a semi-formal song for sound, acoustic guitar and ensemble room transforming a more beautiful country-rock ballad from the average to one eloquent. "Doors Swing Open," an elaborate song based on sixth and sixth chords, offers an elegant and elegant setting that gives b shape and highlight the beautiful chromaticism. "" Midnight Prowl "was a small hit in Boston in 1976.
