Delta Air Lines canceled all flights from LaGuardia Airport until October 30 at 8 pm. EDT. The three main airports serving New York City, JFK, LaGuardia and Newark, are closed at 8 pm. on October 29th. More than 8,000 flights were canceled at 16:00 EDT for the day of 30 October. LaGuardia and Newark have a total of 2,400 canceled flights. On the morning of October 31, nearly 3,000 flights were canceled, but JFK and Newark airports began handling flights after 07:00 am. Events
The New York Halloween Parade, held annually on October 31, was canceled due to the dark conditions in Greenwich Village. A similar parade in the Brooklyn Slope Park neighborhood of New York was also canceled for the same reason.

Evacuation and rescue during a storm

Fire
On October 30, more than 190 firefighters fought six fire alarms which destroyed 111 buildings and damaged 20 others in Breezy Point, Queens, as a result of the storm.
