Sheep cakes or cottage pies are meat pie with mashed potato crust.
The recipes can vary greatly. The ingredients are minced meat (usually beef when named cottage pie or sheep when named shepherds), usually cooked with sauce with onions and sometimes other vegetables, such as peas, celery or carrots, and given mashed potatoes. Pie is sometimes also given grated cheese.
