Mixture of spices is a spice or mixed herbs. When certain combinations of herbs or spices are mentioned in many different recipes (or in one frequently used recipe), it will be easier to combine these ingredients beforehand. Mixtures such as chili powder, curry powder, herbe de Provence, garlic salt, and other seasoned salts are traditionally sold pre-made by merchants, and sometimes cake mixtures such as pumpkin pie flavor are also available. This spice mixture is also easily made by a home chef for later use.

Masala

Masala is a term from Indian subcontinent for a spice blend (From Urdu Problem, via Arabic Masalih). A masala may be a combination of dried (and usually dry-baked) spices, or pasta (such as vindaloo masala) made from a mixture of spices and other ingredients - often garlic, ginger, onion, chili and tomato. Masalas are widely used in Indian cuisine to add flavor and taste, best known in chicken tikka masala and chicken curry. Other South Asian cuisines include Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Burma regularly using a spice mixture.
