Simulator
Pacific Flying Club has three flight simulators available for use.
Pacific Flying Club has:
Simulator Upgrade Beechcraft King Air 200 from Al Sim MCC200 Level 5 for training. This simulator is used for IFR update rides, and training for PPL and CPL students.
The Red Bird flight training device is full of motion. With realistic wrap-around visuals, a fully enclosed cockpit and full motion capability for single and multi-machine operations, Redbird is a certified Transport Canada for IFR Flight Flight Testing. Redbird provides exceptional flexibility and compatibility, and enhances the learning experience.
A PFC Elite FTD offers a visual and is an instrument instructor. It is used for IFR training or work on training instruments for Private Pilot License.
Staff
The Pacific Flying Club employs a team of flight instructors. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Crew is also employed to maintain the fleet.
Booking
Pacific Flying Club has an online booking system that allows pilots and students to choose planes, instructors, and the time they want. Reservations can also be made directly or by phone with delivery.
Groundschool
Private pilots and commercial school pilot classes are offered at the Pacific Flying Club. An online groundschool is also offered.
Groundschool runs continuously; students can join the first night in any subject area. Students can attend as much as they want at no additional cost. Required text and supplies can be purchased from the club.
Pacific Flying Club also has partnerships with Aerocourse, a leader in IFR and ATPL training. Together, Pacific Flying Club and Aerocourse offer an IFR groundschool that goes beyond written preparatory courses and prepares you for your career or a comprehensive IFR flight.
Diploma Program
Pacific Flying Club partnered with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) to provide the diploma "Airlines and Flight Operations - Commercial Pilots". The program allows students to achieve Commercial Pilot Licenses, Multi-Engine ranking and Instrument Ranking as well as obtaining a college diploma. This program starts in May every year.
The program, started in 2002, recently underwent changes and updates to the syllabus. It is delivered in four academic terms in a row, with a small respite for holidays and fly times. The duration of the program has been extended to 18 months in total duration, up from the initial 16 months. This is partly for an additional break and fly, allowing for the possibility of extended weather periods being extended.
The British Columbia Institute of Technology has recently built a $ 76 million Aerospace Technology Campus to serve future demand for educational venues in a thriving industry. The campus opened in 2007, is 285,000 square feet (26,500 m 2 ), including a 43,000 square foot hangar (4,000m 2 ) featuring Westjet Boeing 737 -200.
Social Media
In late 2011 PFC launched PFC Traveling Pen and has since grown into an initiative that has garnered over 400 photos from students, staff, and members. Since pen launches have traveled the world to places as far as Egypt, China, Las Vegas, Jamaica, and Yellowknife are just a few names!
Pacific Flying Club is active in the world of social media with Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts.
